Committees

The Vilnius International Rotary Club had five standing committees:

1. Club Service Committee

The Club Service Committee organizes and implements the Club’s activities with the exception of service projects falling under the responsibility of the Community Service Committee. This includes the weekly luncheons, the monthly evening meetings, other activities and events of the Club. The Committee ensures that the members are kept informed of activities of other Rotary Clubs in Lithuania and of the District, the participation at which is open to our Club members. The Club Service Committee develops and proposes actions and activities to strenghten the relationship amongst the Club members. It ensures that the Club members are familiar with the Rotary principles and the Clubs vision, plans and activities. A representative of the Club Service Committee – assigned by the Committee Chairperson – participates in each of the project teams.

2. Community Service Committee

The Committee prepares the project guidelines and basic criteria for the Club’s Board approval. The Community Service Committee develops, prepares and implements the humanitarian, vocational and educational service projects of the Club. This includes fundraising for the projects, cooperation with Rotary and external partners (if from abroad through the project team member representing the International Committee), including the members of the Club as much as possible into the projects, assessing the risks to the Club and taking adquate precautions for their minimization, drawing up the required reports related to the projects. A member of the Community Service Committee is usually assigned as a project manager, in which capacity he cooperates with representatives of the other Commiittees on the respective project team.

The Committee Chairperson is member of the Board of the Vilnius International Rotary Club and activley participates in the bi-monthly Board Meetings. The Chairperson regularly reports to the Board about the work of the Committee in the bi-monthly Board Meetings.

3. International Committee

The International Committee maintains the relations with Club’s international partner and other Rotary Clubs abroad. The Committee develops new relations with foreign Rotary clubs that take an interest in Lithuania and the activities of the Vilnius International Rotary Club.
Membership in the International Committee is determined based on language skills and familiarity with the countries of foreign Clubs.

 

A representative of the International Committee – assigned by the Committee Chairperson – participates in each of the project teams, which have an internationl element.

The Committee Chairperson is member of the Board of the Vilnius International Rotary Club and activley participates in the bi-monthly Board Meetings. The Chairperson regularly reports to the Board about the work of the Committee in the bi-monthly Board Meetings.

4. Membership Committee

The Membership Committee propose the membership goals and strategy to the Board for approval. It implements the Board’s membership strategy and monitors the progress. It defines the Club’s classification system.
The Membership Committees receives the applications for membership in the Vilnius International Rotary Club, prepares together with the applicant the application file, informes the applicant throughly about Rotary, obligations, procedures etc., defines the professional catogry of the applicant, obtains the consent of the other members of the professional category, assigns a mentor for the first year of membership, and assesses the suitability of the applicant for membership in the Club. The Chairperson of the Membership Committee sends the completed applications to the Board with the Committee’s recommendation and – after receipt of the Bord’s confirmation – carries out the voting process by the Club’s general membership. The Membership Committee prepares the cermony, welcoming new members into the Club, including all materials and insignia.

 

The Membership Committee follows the involvement of the members in the Club and alerts the President to problems of members. It ensures that all members are periodically reminded of the principle of Rotary.
