Projects
1.1 Short term
Project goal is to build up a strong links with the Rotary Clubs in Sweden which are willing to find hospitals with surplus hospital inventory. Short term goal - January 2010 - June 2010.
1.2 Long term
Regularly collect the surplus hospital inventory in Swedish and (Danish?) hospitals and distribute it among hospitals, old people's home etc in Lithuania with an established need.
2. Detailed description of the project
When hospitals in Sweden upgrade their equipment, they will end up with surplus equipment that not always have a second hand value or cannot be sold for other reasons. The objective is to find such equipment that still is in acceptable condition and that the hospitals are willing to donate to institutions in Lithuania.
To find out if surplus equipment is available in Sweden, Vilnius International Rotary Club in Vilnius (VIRC) will co-operate with Rotary Clubs in Sweden. As Southern Denmark is also part of the district, Clubs from that part could also be invited to participate in the project.
VIRC will find institutions in Lithuania with an established need and co-ordinate the donations.
All costs for transportation will be borne by the recipient in Lithuania.
In order to implement the project following activities needs to be carried out:
1. Find out what equipment that is in short supply at hospitals and old people's homes in Lithuania. Please see enclosure from Vilnius University Hospital of Care and Long-term treatment.
2. Present the project to Rotary chapters in Sweden (and Denmark?) and ask them for help to locate hospitals with surplus equipment.
3. Put together lists over equipment that is available.
4. Match the available equipment with institutions with an established need in Lithuania.
5. Organize transportation, the costs will be borne by the recipient.
3. Benefit of the project
To upgrade the equipment in hospitals and old people's homes in Lithuania in order to improve the standards of their care.
4. Project beneficiaries
Vilnius University Hospital of Care and Long-term Treatment, Tyzenhauzu st. 18/4, LT-02106 Vilnius and other institutions in Lithuania with a need.
5. Budget

6. Participants (sponsors)
The plan is to contact Bengt Forss and Jan Erik Elserius who are past members of VIRC and now living in Sweden.
